Today we ate lunch at the Chinese Vegetarian Restaurant near Kunitachi station.

They have an excellent vegetarian menu with a large vegan friendly selection.

Inside they even sell imitation fish and meats. And even have a great selection of vegetarian instant noodles. Something that is pretty hard to find here in Japan.

We definitely plan on dining here again.

昨日、やっと梅雨明け宣言☆　暑い一日となりました〜　甘くて、水分たっぷり、乾いたのどを潤す「夏の果物」と言えば、やはりスイカ。私の街の読売新聞の販売店、毎月、旬の野菜や果物を産地販売してくれてます。

７月は、すいか　銚子産のべにかんろ。我が家は会員なので８００円　一般は９００円です。早速、買いに行きました。２００個限定。。。　まず、とっても大きいので(@_@)　そしてしま模様がなく、黒っぽくて、種がほとんどない☆　北海道の「でんすけ」西瓜に似ていますが、あちらは高級品、これはとっても安い・・・　体重計に載せてみたら１０．４キロ〜　のジャンボサイズ、とても重いです。

先日、はなまるマーケットで、真ん中が甘いので放射状がよいそうです(*^v^*)ニコッ♪　それから、すいかは体温の上がりすぎた体を冷ましてくれるほか、その糖分はすぐに吸収され、エネルギーに変えてくれるそうです。朝食べるとよいですね。食べてみたら、実がしまっていて美味しかった、８００円では安いですね☆　さすが夏の食べ物、美味しいだけでなく頼りになります☆

My co-worker from Japan said that when she moved here, she was surprised when she looked in the meat section of the supermarket — she said that in Japan, the supermarkets just have a small selection of beef, and it’s all really high-quality and super expensive. If you can’t afford it, then you just don’t buy beef for dinner. When she came here, she was surprised to see such a wide range of quality and price; she thought it was nice that anyone could afford to buy beef, although she wasn’t really keen on buying the lower grades herself. :>

Hello Nacos friends ….. I am finally getting back on line here at Nacos. There are many changes in my life coming up. Most importantly, we will be moving to the Seattle area probably next month. I have taken a leave of absence from school for the year and will focus my time on the children and my travel experiences. This summer was a great start. I took six students to Europe in June and then in July I spent 12 days in Ghana, Africa. It was truely amazing and fun and crazy and more than I can explain. I touched a live crocodile and attended village celebrations on a number of occasions. I made some new wonderful friends that I hope to see again. I am happy to be back in Honolulu again. I really enjoyed the Big Island, but I think the overall pace is a little too slow for me personally. We stayed at two different place and each place had their own personalities. The first place we stayed was at the Hapuna Prince. Wow! talk about a nice beach and a relaxing hotel. It was a place to find some solitude and peace of mind. The second place we stayed at was the Hilton Waikola village and it was a village, people from all over the world were there. It was like being at disneyland, they had small boats and a trains to ride on, since the property was so big. It was definetly more for families, but we still had a great time there. It was a little overwhelming at times with all the stuff to see and do. The funny thing that I thought about while there was how this whole imaginary world had been brought to life out in the middle of no-where on top of some lava rock. It is really a site to see when you are driving down the road and there is nothing to look at, but lava rocks and all of a sudden you pull into this huge resort with plants and all walks of life around you.

８月１日の誕生花《アルストロメリア》

水はけの良い土壌を特に好みます。日当たり〜やや半日陰でも大丈夫です。
背が高くなるので支柱などが必要。
高温多湿を嫌いますので、夏は雨の当たらない涼しい場所へ。
休眠期に入りますので、水を与えず乾燥させた状態で夏越しを。

※オーランチアカ種、四季咲き種は夏も生育します（枯れないのでわかります）
この種は、風通しのよい半日陰で、鉢土がかわいたら水を与えます。

耐寒性は品種により、多少違いますが、関東以西では戸外越冬が可能です。
多肥は禁物ですが、数年たって勢いがない株には、生育期に薄い液肥を
月に１〜２回程度、水やりの時に与えて下さい。
非常に花もちがよいので、切花として楽しめます。
球根なので来年以降も楽しめます。
丈夫で、鉢植えでも２〜３年植替えの必要はありません。
根がまわってきたなどの理由での植替え（株分け）は、９〜１０月に。
