Today there was a special business dinner with my department and many top executives. It is such a privilege for someone so young like me to be able to attend this dinner. I feel very thankful to my coworkers for placing such confidence in me. However, I know that with such confidence comes higher expectations. Again, I hope to answer all of the company’s expectations for me. And while it was an honor to attend this meeting, I had to cancel my Japanese class which is something I do not like doing. I felt very bad telling Nakamura sensei about it but I didn’t want to lose face in front of my boss and my elders. Thankfully, sensei was kind enough to reschedule everything for me tomorrow and I’m very grateful for their efforts. They put in a lot of time on my behalf and I will not forget that.
Yesterday I golfed, it was absolutely beautiful day ideal for golf. It’s amazing how much you take for granted while living here in the islands. Just the natural beauty not only found in plant life but in all things Hawaii. Even though conditions were great for golf it did nothing for my score. We played Hawaii prince golf course conditions on the course were great. Play was a little slow but it was so beautiful you barely noticed. I did so poorly that you would have thought I was just learning how to play. I think the great thing about the game is that you can never be perfect, you can be good or great but never perfect. It’s like life you strive for this perfection even though it’s unatainable. Also it’s probably the only game where 4 generations can play together and have a wonderful time. What other sport can boast that? When I have a family of my own this is how we will bond, on the links on a beautiful day with friends and family, just trying to enjoy the game.
その日、フラの練習が、ハワイ大学の中の練習場でありました。パーキング代として３ドル要るということでした。財布を確認すると１０ドル札しかありません。念の為、小さいお札を作っておこうと思い、レッスンへ行く前にフードランドスーパーマーケットに寄って買う必要もないジュースを買いました。支払いをして、おつりをもらうと、その日に限って５ドル札とコインだけでおつりが返ってきました。あらあ、せっかく買ったのに・・とがっかりしました。後ろを見ると、５、６人並んでいました。その時、後ろに誰も並んでいなければ何とか言って1ドルに変えてもらったのですが。。。。

夏の陽に当てようとベランダに出しているハワイのティーリーフの根元からいっせいに新芽が出てきました。親木はハワイ出身ですから2世で、その子は3世にあたるのですが、本土に移って新芽が出るまで15年もかかったので、親木は新たな開拓者も同然です。その意味で新芽は2世とよぶことにします。
Summer for college students in Japan start around this time of the year, depending on when your last test or paper is due. I forced quit my semester two days ago by dropping a course and turning in my other assignments a lot earlier than their deadlines, but it’s so worth it!! The professors don’t read undergraduate’s papers that seriously anyway, so I figured this time I won’t work so hard for good quality.
The reason why I was so desperate to get done with the semester is because I had planned a trip to Disneyland with my sister.
It was overcast but pretty humid and nasty nonetheless. The entrance of the park.

建物と仁王立ちのカップルがお邪魔でやや見えにくかったですが(笑)、
花火はやっぱすごいきれいでした。毎年見ても花火は感動するね。はぁ(´ー｀)よかった。
