ホノルルに　秋の風が吹いた

ほんの少し　秋の匂いがした

明日　ホノルルの朝　ふたたび夏が来ても

秋は静かに　夏の風に寄り添っている

I wonder why Japanese tourists absolutely have to have Japanese food, even if they are only in Hawaii as little as four or five days?  I occasionally eat in Waikiki, and while there are a few Japanese tourists in places like Roy’s, places like Ezogiku are packed with Japanese getting their fix.  I have an Australian friend who was here with his Japanese wife and her father.  My friend said his father in law was wondering if I could recommend a good Japanese restaurant, so I said sure – tell him that when he gets back to Tokyo in a few days, there are thousands of good Japanese restaurants available.  You’re in Hawaii now - try a plate lunch!

今朝、急に涼しくなりました。暑い間は水遣りだけでもフーフーだった庭の植物類もゆっくり観察できるというもの。

そこで見つけたのが大きなステファノーティスの実。大きさ、色、形　すべてアボカドそっくり。

記憶をたどってみるとハワイで垣根にステファノーティスの実がなっていたのを思い出しました。

しかし、ここネブラスカでもお目にかかるとは。なんとなく「縁起がいい」とこじつけています。
