6月20日は夏至の日。昨年の秋に作った、広さ一畳ばかりの作物床に植えた野菜が、予想以上に大きく育ってくれました。雨もありがたい恵みの一つです。
June 20th is the summer solstice. Last fall, I had a raised bed, roughly 4×8 feet, made in my yard, where, now, sugar snap peas, tomatoes, okras and cucumbers are growing. Rain is another blessing of nature.

Mother recently came to visit Hawaii for only the second time. I drove her all around the island and showed her just about every place. We went to all of the typical tourist spots and then tried a few less well known areas. I think that she had a great time and really enjoyed the weather. She said that summer on the mainland is just too hot. I think she wishes she could just stay here on the beach and never leave.
